Why are there so many songs? Why do so many people care? Why do songs play such an important role when people fall in love, get engaged, and get married? Why do they draw tears when couples break up? What is it about rhythm and pitch, words and melody that draw people together or, in some cases, drive them apart? Soldiers sing them as they march into war. Entire nations sing them when wars conclude. People place hands over their hearts as entire stadiums of people fix their gaze on the American flag and struggle through the singing of our National Anthem. Songs are lifted to the Spirit we call God, and often a lone, clear voice will sing in tribute to one who has fallen into that final sleep. Always a song. Always a singer of songs.

From time to time, we want to do a music Web Log or Blog on this site, and we invite your participation. Music means a lot to Patty and me, but I know we are not alone. We’ll drop in some news, some observations as well. But we’ll never be far from the music. Sound Travel with us as we look into the songs that form the soundtrack of our lives. — Bob T

  • I think it has something to do with the vibrations within the human organism. Every atom of every element is vibrating all the time in the body. And the basic beat is the heart beat. In a way, we are music.

  • Music is the melodic language of feeling.

  • Really like Jacques observation. One of my personal favorite quotes:
“Everything in life is vibration” (Albert Einstein). Yes, we are music! I truly believe that.

Occasionally I have met individuals for whom music doesn’t seem to be part of their lives in any way, but that is far from the norm. Always has made me curious how that could be. To me, music is essential.
