Hey, everybody, sorry we’ve been incommunicado recently. The phone and internet is still out of service at our mountain bungalow. We’re sending this to you through a handy-dandy wi-fi hotspot. As soon as we’re up and running again, Bob will be writing more of his wonderful blog entries. In the meantime, here is a press release that we just sent out for our upcoming CD release party:
Sound Traveler, known locally as Bob and Patty Tatum, will soon release their first CD of original material. We would appreciate your help in publicizing this event. We would also be honored if you would consider reviewing our CD (a copy can be made available for this purpose). Here are the details:

Background:
Sound Traveler has been performing together as a duo since 2010. Their music is an eclectic-acoustic blend that includes classic rock & pop covers, standards, folk, and light jazz. Bob’s originals are quite intriguing to categorize, as they include thoughtful ballads and clever up-tempo pieces that touch on a wide variety of subjects such as lighthouses and limousines, love and loss, and even a Smoky Hollow found in these beautiful highlands. Diverse instrumentation adds to Sound Traveler’s unique sound, as Bob’s distinctive fingerstyle guitar stylings and harmonica accents blend with Patty’s trumpet, bass, concertina, and percussion contributions. Shared leads and harmony vocals complete the overall musical package.
Before they created Sound Traveler, Bob & Patty performed with Ellie Hjemmet as Bob & Ellie with Patty for several summer seasons. Bob’s name is well-known in this area, as he worked with Crossties and Bob & Ellie for many years as well as taught at Avery County Middle School in Newland, NC, for thirty years before retiring last year. Previously, Patty toured with the international group Up With People and played trumpet in a Japanese jazz band before finding her way to Western North Carolina and Bob.
This summer, you can find Sound Traveler performing at events such as Music in the Valle in Valle Crucis (June 10), Roan Mountain’s Rhododendron Festival (June 18), Jonesborough (TN.) Days (July 3), and Music Fest –n- Sugar Grove (July 9). You can also catch them at some of their favorite venues, including Banner Elk Winery, Banner Elk Café, The Orchard at Altapass, Acoustic Coffeehouse (Johnson City, TN), the Highlands at Sugar, and various local campgrounds. During the school year, look for them around Florida’s Space Coast, as their home base shifts to Cape Canaveral, FL. during the winter months.
